"For every family dealing with a sudden, rushed transition, no matter how bad it seems, there's always hope."
A compelling and moving conversation between two sisters on the impact of transition on a family. Thank you @ImWatson91.

An aspect of the ideology that disturbs me is cutting out family and friends from your life. The people who love you unconditionally are painted as the enemy.

Exactly. There's a common narrative in online trans communities that goes something like "if you're family don't support you, you need to leave. Never feel bad for cutting out toxic people - the trans community is your new family" and it's so very sinister to me.

I know what it’s like to have an amazing sister. Mine too is an amazing person and I’d so want her as a friend if she wasn’t my sister. Wouldn’t be the person I am without her, I’m so glad you’ve found a way to embrace your relationship. We’re in our 50s now. It’s great!
