I look back on it now and It's so sad. I felt the need to defend something that was harming me, why? Pride? Fear of embarrassment? Fear of being wrong? Whatever the reasons, it's dangerous and I can't stop thinking about how many young people are currently caught in that mindset.

I can relate, my new therapist pointed out something like this can be seen in my notes where I would tell them I was "happy now" over phone check ups but actually when asked further questions I always mentioned still feeling depressed and that things weren't getting much better.

I do not know much of your story. Only snippits I've seen here. It sounds lile you were not told that mediacal transition might not fix things. Is that accurate?
-
Aye, that's accurate. Desistence and detransition/regret were not issues that ever came up during my evaluation.
