As a detransitioner, one thing you'll notice when you begin to manage your dysphoria on your own, without continuing with transition, is the high likelihood that you'll be hit with the phrase “that's because you were never really trans!!” 1/2

I was diagnosed by a professional at a gender clinic with gender dysphoria. I changed my name/sex on my legal documents. I was on cross-sex hormones four and a half years. I had a double mastectomy. I lived as a trans man for years. Tell me, how was I never really trans? 2/2

Sadly for them, "being trans" is all about some mental state and if you decided you weren't trans that means you never were. We really need to get back to tying "trans" to transition.

That's the problem with this ideology. They think being trans is having a certain mindset, which it is not. It's merely transitioning in an attempt to alleviate gender dysphoria. For some it works, for others it doesn't. Trans people are trans and detrans people used to be trans.
