I was diagnosed by a professional at a gender clinic with gender dysphoria. I changed my name/sex on my legal documents. I was on cross-sex hormones four and a half years. I had a double mastectomy. I lived as a trans man for years. Tell me, how was I never really trans? 2/2

Exactly, thank you. "How dare you deny my identity?! I exist! I exist!...Oh, them? They don't exist!"

"Really trans" sounds as if it was something set in stone and immutable as sex is, which is factually untrue. Already the word itself implies a movement. A movement can go in any direction.

I can see why it would be difficult, emotionally, for someone to acknowledge the reality of what happens to detransitioners, esp. if they are trans & struggling. But that phrase is shockingly devoid of empathy. It must be hard to have your reality denied like this. I'm sorry.

Managing GD as a psychological quirk (to me it’s a quirk, not a mental illness) rather than a physical “problem” needing drugs and surgery should always be the first and main way to deal with it. It’s just part of who we are. Transition should be a last resort, as an adult.

I'm not trans and haven't experienced dysphoria so I may be wrong on this. But based on what I've read and been told, I'm not sure describing GD as a quirk is really appropriate because that word somewhat trivializes how acutely distressing the experience usually is.

Which group say this to you, people in general, TRAs, or Trans-deniers?
