I'd also love to see more transparent data because I know the TERF myths are destructive. But until we can trust the cis to conduct themselves fairly, I will continue to urge extreme care. We are simply not here to placat those that would see us killed off over lies.

And yes, so-called detrans experiences are valid. And yes, people transition for many reasons and some reasons are awful. And yes, I know people who elected not to pursue a transition or follow up on it. But you and I both know the perl-clutching is about something else entirely.

It's difficult to believe what you're saying when your choice of words regarding detransitioners is "so called" detrans experiences. My experiance isn't "so called" it just is.

Your experience is valid and real. So-called "detrans" in contrast to desisting transition. Evidence Inhave seen first hand is that too many people who stop living a trans experience do so because of society more than because of their identity.

I do not question *why* you changed your mindset. Only you can know that.

Here's my question to uou: How can I as a trans rights activist protect my own while making more space for your experience - without feeding the monster of societal transphobic oppression? This is something I struggle with.

If you have ideas that you are interested in sharing with me, or if you have a cohort willing to meet with me in safety, I would be honoured to make that happen. This is not the first time I have tried to reach out. Sadly it never goes anywhere.

It saddens me that the likes of you and the likes of me are used by people with other interests to attack one another. Trans and once-trans experiences are facets of the same self-discovery, when we take away the radicalized voices.

I don't mean to be too pushy Watson, but were you commenting in this thread over actual concerns for those who transition and for those who roll it back, or was this just about amplifying
#TERF disinformation? It would be disappointing if that was the end of it.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
As a trans activist you can protect your own and make space for detrans folk by simply acknowledging that what was done to us was wrong. You're not feeding into transphobia, you're merely acknowledging that dysphoria is complicated, thus, unquestioning affirmation is harmful 2/2

Thank you for addrsssing my question. I'm not sure what you mean when you say " done to us". The expectation I hold is that agency and informed consent drive transition, at the forefront of every decision. Was that not the case for you?
