Why do certain people want #detrans stories silenced?
Well, it's hard to claim that irreversible medical intervention is the best – nay, the only – treatment for gender dysphoria while also having to acknowledge the growing number of detransitioners who were harmed by it.

You aren't wrong... and if you look at some of the communities and what gets told to detransitioners, they even tell us not to call ourselves detransitioners as that's a political term meant to hurt trans people.

People who thought they were trans but discovered otherwise, and those who gave up because it was just "not worth the pain" do need to have their stories told. What should and must never happen is hate groups using this rare phenomenon to justify harm to others.

...because we know how rare detransition is. Data shows 2% of those who access medical transition desist. In contrast 5% of people who access solid-organ transplants regret doing so. ...yet we see no coordinated attack on on heart or kidney transplants recipients. Why is that?

We don't know detransition rates. It hasn't been properly researched and when attempts have been made, they have been shut down for being "politically incorrect" (see James Caspian case). Not to mention clinics appalling record for follow-up - they have no idea the rate of regret

YOU may not have this data but the data exists, flawed as it is. And it's far less flawed than the fearmongering conflation of data sets we see in mapping gender exploration as if it was regret of medical transition.

"Flawed as it is" is a very important part of this discussion. Research shouldn't be flawed when peoples - young peoples - wellbeing is at stake. I want research on regret to help dysphoric people, not to harm them. Of course the data should never be used for anti-trans purposes.

It all speaks to motive. Although the facts speak for themselves, radicalized TERF extremists have had far too loud a voice to feed them to. Governments manage data gathering according to how it will be misused to cause harm This is a good thing that sadly needs to continue.
