I had mine since I can remember. I vividly recall being 5 or so and believing I'd grow into a man and having a phantom sensation of penis. It got worse because of strict gender roles and abuse. My sister has dealt with body dysmorphia in a similar way, first making comments -

Self discovery is a scary change. some take it in thier stride, others cannot. What doesn't help, is supoosed medical professionals, instead of doing their upmost to help and guide they gallop down the very same track. Young ppl are easily influenced.

I'm old. I never called anything dysphoria, just remember as a small kid being bullied for not being like a girl. I just stayed me, but can't imagine having that feel terrible emotionally.

It jigsaws very neatly with the idea of the 'gendered soul'. ie. Identity moves in a mysterious way, its wonders to perform, and it is not for mere mortals like us to question why. I thought we threw this sort of nonsense out when we stopped trying to turn lead into gold.

I'm yet to meet a teen who isn't confused. About themselves or life in general. Puberty literally turns our brain to mush as it gets rebuilt for adulthood. Hence why every generation looks at younger people and groans. I knew a kid in school who utterly believed he was an alien
