That's refreshing, to admit we're faced by a kind of brick wall and can only wait for a crack to appear but our banging our heads against that wall is not going to create any crack
I wish I could tell parents how to help their dysphoric kids. I believe it can be done pre-transition. But in my experience, when someone starts HRT, they've made up their mind and no words will reach them. Either transition works or they'll regret, all parents can do is be there
