There’s no epidemic of #trans athletes dominating college sports
There IS an epidemic of young trans people dying from suicide as society questions their every civil right
This sports bit is a distraction. As someone who sits with these kids when they’re suffering, I’m furious.

Do you have any studies to back that up? According to this one, out of 5107 trans women, 41 committed suicide. Out of 3156 trans men, 8 of them committed suicide. Still heartbreaking, but nowhere near an epidemic.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7317390/ …

In the UK the suicide rate is 11 per 100000. That makes those figures in your report look pretty brutal. The trans female figure would 803 out of 100,000. 72 times more than the general population.

Yes, the trans suicide rates are far higher when compared to the general population, I don't think anyone contests that. It's not an epidemic though, and it was grossly dishonest of Jack Turban to suggest it.

Usually the definition of epidemic refers to an infectious disease, which dysphoria is not. Regardless, I think the study I provided shows very clearly that while the suicide rates are very high compared to the general pop, they're not so high as to merit the title epidemic.
