I want gender dysphoria to be recognized for what it is - a mental illness. There is absolutely no shame in that at all. Depression is a mental illness - you'd never shame a depressed person for being depressed. Gender dysphoria, as a mental illness, requires treatment. 1/3

One of those treatments is medical transition - which works for many. Many trans people will tell you how transition improved their mental health and their quality of life. And they're right. 2/3

Another of those treatments is self acceptance - which works for many. Detrans people will tell you how self acceptance improved their mental health and their quality of life. And they're right. Dyshoria *needs* treatment that offer various avenues, not just transition. 3/3

Genuine question(s), what does trans mean (to you)? Is it an umbrella term that swings well beyond GD to include many other things from kinks to moody teenagers?

To me, trans means someone who has transitioned. I differentiate between trans people and people with gender dysphoria because many dysphoric people don't transition, and many detrans people (like me) still have dysphoria.
