I want gender dysphoria to be recognized for what it is - a mental illness. There is absolutely no shame in that at all. Depression is a mental illness - you'd never shame a depressed person for being depressed. Gender dysphoria, as a mental illness, requires treatment. 1/3

I'll add that book to my list. I see dysphoria primarily as a mental illness. For some, it stems from abuse. Others, societal expectations. Others, internalized homophobia. Others, who knows? But it requires treatment and not blind affirmation.
