I really wish I knew what gender dysphoria was and why some people, including myself, have it. It's difficult to describe, and has changed in some ways over the many years since it manifested, but what I know for certain is that it hurts. It really fucking hurts. 1/x

And no, this isn't a pity party - I'm so fucking over pity at this stage, it's insulting This is an awareness conversation The reason I support trans adults is because I get it. I can absolutely see how transition can seem like the best option and can genuinely help 3/x

But because there *is* regret, there *are* detransitioners, we *need* to know more about gender dysphoria. A lot more, given the stakes. We need alternative treatments, we need options, we need research. We need the truth - that transition is NOT always the best option. 4/x

We need to know why some people are so unbearably uncomfortable with their biological sex, even after gender transition has been attempted and has failed. Why has nobody - not a single GP, therapist, social worker, councillor or psychiatrist been able to help me with this? 5/5

It sounds truly awful. Do you mind if I ask - how regularly does this still happen? Do you notice any patterns of when this happens? Does it seem related to/triggered by anything else? Does alcohol make you forget temporarily or just make you stop caring?
