In order to work, all Xs must think/feel/act/be something specific/unique.

Exactly this. I’m not a man, I won’t ever be. For me that isn’t an unsettling/upsetting thing, I’m totally comfortable with that. It is just the reality of the situation. I’m more comfortable physically looking male, but I am female and that is what I always will be.
