Did you undergo any regular monitoring of testosterone levels and/or other health indicators like blood pressure or kidney function? If so, what did you understand the purpose of that monitoring to be?

I got blood checks every now and then between 2015-2017. After my mastectomy in June 2017 I stopped making appointments at the clinic and they never invited me for further check ups. I was still getting my testosterone, so I assumed everything was fine.

Thanks for responding! Did you understand the purpose of the blood checks to be testosterone levels (e.g., is there "enough"/a male level of testosterone in your system) or health risks (or something else)?

I understood the blood checks were to make sure I was taking enough testosterone, and if my dose was too low my results would get me more

I don't know why this shocks me or why I can't get over it. All this time, in the case of my own FTM friends, I thought the frequent blood checks were to monitor for health risks -- a recognition that something risky was being undertaken. But instead it's all a farce.

To be fair, I was also told that it was to make sure my dose wasn't too high, either, as a female taking too much testosterone is very risky.
