By the time I was on T, I was so far gone that questioning was unacceptable. Pre-t, I think I would have been more open to alternatives. My friends knew my past, they could have convinced me. But why would they? When the world was telling them to celebrate me, for my sake.

Yeah, that's what I was worried about. I did try to push back (gently, mostly asking lots of questions) before transition, and said I'd support whatever friend decided to do.

Now several years in, it feels like we can't talk about it because friend will only talk about it in ways that invite reinforcement of decision (about passing, being a man, etc.) and I can't contribute to that in good conscience.
