The 'Lived Experience' is not about dress and pronouns. It's about pay slips and utility bills.

A friend who transitioned a few years ago (ftm) was 'fast tracked' because she was a butch lesbian who lived in jeans, dungarees and doc martens. She often complained about being mistaken for a man in the ladies loos....presume that counts as 'as good as'....

-
I remember being mistaken as a man at Glasgow University Library as I was entering the ladies room, a cleaner said "mate, the guys is up there." I was pre-T at the time so it made me happy, but I look back on it now and wonder how many masculine women have had to deal with that.

That’s appalling you should have support that time period of living as the opposite sex not just a tick box exercise
-
You'd be surprised by just how much of my gender evaluation and subsequent access to testosterone and surgery resembled a mere tick box exercise.

That's the key issue we should be looking at. Clearly, transition helps some dysphoric people but harms others. Why? This needs more research because if that can be awnsered, regret rates will go down and so will the waiting times at clinics.

Many therapists now accept using pronouns & bathrooms and cross dressing within the safety of a progressive high school as satisfying this requirement. I think working construction on an all-male crew is a lot more realistic. Is there a scenario you wish you'd tried?
