Why is it so controversial to say that teenagers, whose brains are not fully developed, should not commit to gender transition? I'm not saying they should *never* do it. Just that it's probably best to wait until they're old enough and mature enough to do it.

Well it's because many of us would not survive to adulthood, and if we did we'd be traumatised from the damage done to the brain by dysphoria. For us, saying that we need to wait to adulthood is the same as saying we should never be allowed to, because there is no adulthood.
What did dysphoric teens do throughout history with no access to med transition? Having dysphoria is hard but it doesn't automatically mean we'll kill ourselves if we can't transition before adulthood - if transition even helps, which it didn't for me. That's why I urge caution.

Many died. I would've died if I hadn't started DIY med transitioning at 15. And most of those who do not die are permanently scarred by puberty.

I'm watching a transitioned kid fall apart now. First testosterone, recently a masectomy. Now, silently dealing with those choices. Dropped or of school, no job. Was a classmate of my daughter. Suicide runs in the family. Yup, not even 21 yet.
