Regarding the pronoun thing, I don't care. If Eddie Izzard was sitting with me, I'd use "she" pronouns to be polite. But that doesn't mean Eddie Izzard is a woman Eddie is male. I'm perfectly willing to be courteous in social situations but will not ignore biological reality

I understand about being courteous, that's me by nature, and it's a hard thing to just stop being. But now, knowing everything I do, and seeing where "kindness" and being "polite" has gotten us, I just could not in good conscience say the lie.

That's understandable, and I don't think it's wrong or rude for you or others to call Eddie a he. People should only do or say what they're personally comfortable with.
