Precisely. Funnily enough, I've been called both by certain individuals depending on which of my views they agreed with.
When I was a trans man, I was praised for switching to he/him pronouns and it just made me uncomfortable. Being called "brave" for something that, frankly, isn't brave felt undeserved. It's not brave, it's not cowardly, it's just switching pronouns. That's it.

What strikes me as odd about all this is that the person concerned isn’t doing the switch. They are demanding that others do the switch.
