How do detransitioners feel about the idea of a "detrans community"? While I think it's incredibly important for detrans folk to feel like they have others like themselves to turn to, I'll confess I have a small gripe with the term "community" across the board. 1/2

I think the idea of a "detrans community" has problems, but the idea that "detrans" is an "identity" is worse.

Agreed. I don't think it's healthy to move on from one identify (trans) to another (detrans) without realising that one's feverent focus on *identity* may be the problem.

I reject the concept of identity entirely. I'm woman because I am female, and I am "detrans" because I detransitioned, so these words accurately decribe me. When people look at "detrans" through the lens of "identity" it can actually discourage them from detransitioning...

Yeah, I've specifically seen the connection between detransition and radical feminism be brought up in that regard. I detransitioned but am not a "radfem," and I hope no detransitioner ever feels they have to pick a new group to join simply because it seems commonly done.
