The problem with identity/labels is how they can trap you. When I identified as trans - when that first niggling pang of regret happened - I pushed it down because I was *trans,* period. Regret was wrong. The label I'd given myself stopped me from detransirioning for a year 1/3

Labels are poisonous if you make them the most important thing about you. We're complex creatures. We should be able to change & evolve at any age without fear of being labelled a liar or a traitor to said labels. And the worst culprit tends to be ourselves. Be kind to you 3/3

fuuuck this is so true. I remember a fleeting time from my youth when the popular culture was all about getting rid of labels, because they were confining. At some point there was a shift to label EVERYTHING and to cling to those labels as "identities" rather than descriptors.
