I promised myself I wouldn't tweet about this. But I've had a few beers, so here we go. A recent conversation I had annoyed me. This isn't a jab at that person - you know who you are and I love you - but this *mentality* gets to me, and I want to talk about it. 1/5

I don't like being insulted and called an irresponsible idiot. But I also don't appreciate people throwing pity parties for me. Shit happens. You deal with it and move on. Detransitioners don't want scorn or pity. We want research and the *prevention of future cases.* 5/5

Thanks for this thread. Lisa Littman is the first to announce a study of desisters/detransitioners. Without research like this, as you say, the real story won't be known. And of course, her study would only be a start. But it IS a start.pic.twitter.com/zCPsZBCfBy

Agreed. I would have taken part, if I were American.

No, but the parents, the psychologists, the pshychiatrists, the teachers, the self help groups and charities need to be able to help young people avoid going down extreme routes in the first place. We need to avoid gender identity and go back to straightforward personalities.

i.e.we need to take back the language...

I support in depth studies and analysis of why so many girls/women are experiencing gender dysphoria. Unfortunately it seems that doesn’t matter to many people in medical, therapeutic, tra, or gc circles. At some point these discussions must be had/heard. Thanks for saying it.

Watson, I think some young women in particular have always suffered from body dysmorphia around puberty. I don't think this generation are any different. I spent the years from about 13 to around 20 covering myself up with a parka so no-one, so I thought could see my breasts 1)

Transitioning to present as the opposite sex wasn't an option or something anyone talked about. There was no Internet, no Tumblr etc. GNC folk were just that. I see school girls nowadays and the all look the same. The pressure to conform must be overwhelming. 2)
