Intrusive memories can be a sign of PTSD. Drinking to cope also goes with that. I do wonder at the long term mental health issues many face as a result of detransitioning. As the medics says "Repeated surgical insult" can have a long term impact all of its own.
My detransitioners suffer from PTSD and substance abuse, but I'm fortunate to not be among them. Hopefully our doctors soon realise that treating gender dysphoria doesn't need to include medical transition.

Just be aware that prior trauma and being around people with PTSD increases the risk to you. Also, PTSD that develops after multiple trauma tends to be Complex and responds less well to treatment.

Do you know if the supposed long term Portnam study of those who Transition and then Detransition is looking at PTSD and other mental health issues that arrive only as part of the whole process? I suspect not - but would love to be shocked.
