Trans & detrans, how did the kids in your life react to the change? My nephews remember me pre-transition but my niece only knew uncle Sean and she's devastated he's "gone." I've said I'm the same person, she doesn't have to call me aunt etc. but she just wants her uncle back.

I had not thought about familial rejection if detransitioned. It’s like peeling an onion. Each time I think I have thought about all the ramifications I find I really have not.

If you transition while family members are very young, they have no idea you're trans. My niece was told she had an aunt called Sinead she'd never met when she saw old photos of me, so now she firmly believes Sean and Sinead are two different people.

That must be hard at both ends. Sounds as if that’s something that other detransitioners may also be dealing with. I genuinely had not thought about it. I’ve considered how to deal with it if my son goes ahead but only for older relatives. For kids? On transition/ Detransition?
