Many parents who consent to blockers for their kids are unfairly vilified. I don't think most people understand how much pressure they're under, not just from being told their kid may kill themselves, but also from being attacked as abusive and transphobic should they hesitate.

Exactly. Unfortunately this dynamic flies under the radar of a gender critical feminist analysis, which is biased toward identifying females as victims and males as perpetrators.
Agreed. There was a case her quite a few years ago: a 7 year old boy was being forced to live as a girl by his mother. A judge eventually removed him from her custody, citing “significant emotional harm” caused by the mum. This boy was abused. Females can abuse males.

Unfortunately, if this happened now, the abusive mother would probably be enabled by the system, and the child would be subjected to medical transition.

I have hesitated to talk about this, but my great-grandmother dressed my grandfather "as a girl". She already had an older daughter, so it can't be claimed that she was just desperate for a child to dress "pretty". She was sick. Fortunately medical transition did not exist then.
