Many parents who consent to blockers for their kids are unfairly vilified. I don't think most people understand how much pressure they're under, not just from being told their kid may kill themselves, but also from being attacked as abusive and transphobic should they hesitate.

The fear is paralyzing. Exhausting. The idea that a gender clinic would enlist CPS if parents don’t agree to treatments (backed up by primarily low grade evidence) is horrific. Or that a school counselor could report home life as “unsafe” bc pronouns aren’t used is terrifying.

It's a dystopian nightmare. I struggle to comprehend how parents remain strong in that situation, their love for their children is something else.

I'm sure this is true for some parents, and probably for most whose children self identify as "trans" during puberty, following exposure to social contagion, but I have observed blatant Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy or grooming behaviors from mothers with younger "trans" children.

"Appropriate" parents would be concerned and they would get a second opinion before consenting to life- and body-altering procedures for their child.

A second opinion from where? They're directed to gender clinics, where affirmation is the norm.

The suicide threat remains one of the most disgusting manipulative aspects of the gender affirming industry. It's infuriating and unethical that clinicians would use it. Children are resilient and should be shown that they are. The suicide narrative is far too pervasive.

thank you for showing sympathy. The experience of parents is important too.
