Parents of dysphoric kids don't receive enough support. Many gender clinics immediately affirm without investigating potential causes. Despite this parents are told to consider blockers/eventual HRT or their kid may commit suicide without them. Imagine that was you. Your kid.

Nobody really thinks about it until it happens to them. I was that person. It’s been a lesson in walking a mile in someone else’s shoes in a lot of ways.

Not only haven't they heard no, but every act, no matter how mundane or average, is lauded as being amazing. I am all for support and encouragement, but assessment must be frank, no matter if it momentarily hurts feelings. The idea that "everyone should get a trophy" is harmful.
