Thank you. I want this conversation to take into account that many detransitioners are young and vulnerable. I'm happy to plod on, I've made my peace with it, but so many young detrans people (especially women) don't need that added hostility from TRAs and their appeasers.
I'm not thin-skinned but when TRAs joke about detransitioners, "all 8 of them lol!" It gets me 1 The many detrans folk I've spoken to will be glad to hear they don't exist 2 Even if there was only 8, isn't that proof enough that alternative treatment should be offered?

A TRA once told me that detransitioners don't exist, only trans people with internalised transphobia who've been bullied into feeling regret. Even when they're staring reality in the face, many of them scoff.

Is there a way to get a good feel for how many people have detransitioned? (Obviously this still leaves us blind to those who remain transitioned but live with regret.)

Unfortunately, no. Most see returning to clinics as anathema. They're lost in follow-up. Their councillors don't want them. Some that I speak to are public - they tweet/post articles/YouTube videos. The majority are silent for fear of backlash. That's only the ones I know.
