I know misogyny when I see it, and the bill really ain't. Wee beardy blokehood is also not diagnostic. #pressfastforward

You've been following the (evidence-based) debates on this?

I have, but I'm very open to any and all aspects I may have missed.

Did you miss the state-sanctioned conversion therapy of gay women? Because that's a very big part. Hard not to conceptualise that as misogyny, I think. Bill proposals help to further erode protections.

Yes, I did miss that, although I'm not sure what conversion means in this context (and most therapy of all sorts is state-sanctioned!). Point me at it.

Huge wealth of evidence re: sharp spike in girls being referred to gender clinics, affirmed "as boys" and put on medical pathways.

Thought that this was a very small number of people, who made decisions as adults that they were happy with for some time? I'm not excusing misdiagnosis and prejudice, and choices can be seen as incorrect over time, but it's not systematic nor widespread. As I read the evidence.

Have you read the report from the Tavistock's David Bell? Or the testimony of the subsequent whistleblowers who refer to the "joke" that "there'll be no gay kids left". This isn't some crank conspiracy theory.

I know that my trans friends are the first to warn about medical over-enthusiasm for diagnosis of gender dys, but I also know that one of the first things the Tav does is give people a reading list that is exremely sound on good clinical practise. There is no grand conspiracy.

And as far as I can tell, the number of people who detransitionis >1%, with most of them returning later to their changed gender. There was some old research that had higher numbers, but it's not now accepted. Seehttps://journals.lww.com/prsgo/Fulltext/2018/08001/Abstract__A_Survey_Study_of_Surgeons__Experience.266.aspx …

The problem with the current detransition statistics is they come from clinics who can only report on those who return to their clinic. Many detransitioners do not return to their clinics, and are therefore not counted.
