Gender affirmation care has its place. Adults with a long, documented history of dysphoria will likely benefit from the affirmation model. But to apply it across the board - to kids, adolescents & young adults with little/no history of dysphoria, is unforgivably irresponsible.

Have you addressed it? We did and it stopped. Or so they said. I can’t imagine they’d continue and intentionally mislead us. That would be a nice lawsuit waiting to happen. We were only able to address the teachers. The kids are out of our control.

It’s school policy at a lot of places. To keep it from parents. Insanity.

And in open defiance of parents (like me) who have requested they do not use incorrect pronouns or otherwise affirm.

Kids sometimes (not always) have distorted ideas and fears about parental responses to their behavior. "My parents would FREAK OUT". If a kid wants a name/pronoun change counselors should explore with kid why they don't want to tell parents.
-
Kids sometimes think avoiding an uncomfortable topic means they will be safe from the discomfort. Allowing kids change name/pronouns without involving parents leads to more familial stress than might have happened if they had been brought into it. My opinion.
