Children are not adults. I do not used children's preferred pronouns, because they likely come from manipulative, adult influence.

It's happening at my younger kid's school. 12 years old, and she is getting upset because she is worried she'll get into trouble if she uses the wrong pronoun.

That's unacceptable. Kids shouldn't have to deal with that. Adults at least have the capacity to make judgement calls.
