My dad was similar. He used my birthname and female pronouns for me years into my transition and I always loved him, never resented him for it. Ironically, he was the most concerned when I told him I was detransitioning.

That's such an interesting relationship, he essentially "dead named" you, yet you were a strong enough person to not crumble. I fear for the kind of individuals that threaten suicide when people don't agree with them. They need help.
"dead naming" isn't traumatic or hard to deal with at all, I never understood young trans people's hatred of it.

I've heard trans stories that make me roll my eyes, I've heard trans stories that make me tear up. I can see how a denial of identity is hurtful. I take each on a case by case basis but do have views on the movement as a whole.
