My dad was similar. He used my birthname and female pronouns for me years into my transition and I always loved him, never resented him for it. Ironically, he was the most concerned when I told him I was detransitioning.
I think his concern was due to how far I'd gone. He was worried what regretting years of T and a double mastectomy would entail. But he's an amazing man, one of my best friends, and he's had my back through everything.

That's such an interesting relationship, he essentially "dead named" you, yet you were a strong enough person to not crumble. I fear for the kind of individuals that threaten suicide when people don't agree with them. They need help.

"dead naming" isn't traumatic or hard to deal with at all, I never understood young trans people's hatred of it.
