I think his concern was due to how far I'd gone. He was worried what regretting years of T and a double mastectomy would entail. But he's an amazing man, one of my best friends, and he's had my back through everything.
My dad was similar. He used my birthname and female pronouns for me years into my transition and I always loved him, never resented him for it. Ironically, he was the most concerned when I told him I was detransitioning.

I’m glad you were ok with your dad using your birth name, etc. My child has completely shunned me for making any “pronoun” blunders. Her dad (see? I did it again!) has completely affirmed whatever she’s doing, & now I think she is getting a legal name change. I’m not happy.
