Apparently in 1892, the princess of Liechtenstein, Pauline Von Metternich, got so pissed off at Countess Anastasia Von Kielmannsegg for criticizing her flower choices at a party that she demanded a topless, sword duel. God, please be true.

Sounds plausible. Duels were often topless, as clothing pushed into a sword wound would be fatal due to no antibiotics, etc.

Aye, it would be much easier to treat a wound that didn't have to be cleared of fabric first. That, and the participants were wealthy, they probably wouldn't want to slice up their good dresses.
