I love my mum and I know she loves me but we don't discuss my detransition. I think it's hard for her because she didn't object when she knew transition wasn't for me. Today she visited unannounced to gift me a plant. Her way of checking in without asking difficult questions.

This is an aspect that doesn't get talked about much... the very real consequences on parent/child/young adult relationships and how transition can be a wedge or cause parents to feel they must/should support even if they have misgivings Tough choices and no easy answers
A lot of parents with ROGD kids have told me they were too afraid to question them for fear of being pushed away. Ideally, it should be the doctor's doing the questioning, but they're affirmation mad. A lot of regret will be seen as a consequence.

The parents are also being told by professionals that just questioning can lead to suicide. Any lack of affirmation might kill their child. I feel for all who have been coerced into this practice.

"Would you rather a dead son or a live daughter," and all other similar sentiments that get thrown at these parents are among the cruelest to date. I have zero fucking patience for the suicide-scare tactic.

It's tough.. As much as I love my kids and want them to be happy I would struggle with this.. I wish you and your Mum all the best as you renegotiate your relationship - parenting isn't easy and we all just muddle through
