People ask “why did you transition?” For the same reason *every* trans person does – I was certain it would help me. I didn’t know I was wrong. I assumed if I was wrong, the gender clinic would realise that. Evidently, they agreed I was doing what was best. That’s the problem.
Counselling/therapy wasn’t compulsory. If you wanted to, you could go on a waiting list for counselling before your evaluation. Most people I’ve spoken to didn’t opt for that because they’d already made up their minds that they needed HRT.
