The Internet (social media) is a big factor. I have a niece that has always had issues with depression and not belonging since her parents divorced. She grew up like most other little girls. It wasn't until she was 16 she suddenly "realized" she felt more like a boy. (1/2)

If she's happy with this community and group of people, more power to her, but I hope that she doesn't go as far as changing her body. I was close enough to her to know that I don't think this would be a long-term wise choice.
