Detransitioners are considered a threat to gender clinicians, to all of those who advocate for affirmative care. They should have been saying, WTF is up with all of these adolescent girls going trans?
Re: The medical establishments reaction to detransition If there was an increase in patients who felt wronged by treatment in any other area of practice, it would be rigorously investigated. Yet there’s minimal research on transtion regret – esp. since the massive jump in FTMs.

I still have dysphoria but I'm managing it, thankfully. I don't consider myself part of the trans community (or any other community), but then I never considered myself part of it when I lived as trans, either.

Does that justify rejecting proposals to research detransition? On the grounds of the topic being “politically incorrect”? The lack of research isn’t because it’s a “tiny %” - it’s because it doesn’t fit the tarn narrative.

This is definitely not true. Drugs and procedures that harm patients remain in use for years precisely because of resistance by the medical establishment (MDs, pharma, captive regulators, even the media). Take opioids as just one recent example.

I think this is optimistic about how the medical establishment responds to unhappy patients in other areas. The lack of interest in detransition is shit, but it's not unique.
