I used to say that if I hadn’t been able to transition, I would’ve killed myself - and I wholeheartedly believed it to be true at the time. But I was wrong. It's possible, however uncomfortable it makes you, that anyone currently saying it could also be wrong. 4/5

Wow, this is so helpful. I'm currently supporting a teen who was suicidal because of wanting to transition but they also admit that transitioning wouldn't necessarily make them happy.
I don't know your whole story but I would imagine you were in a lot of psychological pain and you just wanted it to end. If someone (esp a Dr.) tells you transitioning is the only answer, then the thought of not being able to (to end the suffering) might well make you suicidal.
