What would it have been like for you if they had expressed their pain when you decided to transition?
I think I'd have asked them why it hurt them so much. If they'd told me they thought I was making a mistake, it’s possible I'd have lashed out at them. I was absolutely convinced I had to transition, to get better, and I was hellbent in doing so. It’s a very selfish mindset.

Is there anything they could've done to dissuade you?

I honestly don’t know. I had so many problems affecting my mental health back then, I needed a professional to help me understand what was going on. Instead, the professional I saw affirmed me and prescribed me testosterone.

This is where my eldest is right now— talking about top surgery a hysterectomy although gender fluid —and thinking anyone who’s not 100% behind them is a hateful transphobic rather than concerned. It is definitely a feeling of mourning,helplessness & anger at brainwashing for me
