When I made the decision to detransition in October, one reaction I wasn’t expecting from loved ones was tears. To the families and friends out there who currently have transitioning loved ones, I’d like to say a few things. 1/9

Wow, this is emotional. It’s a very important teaching for those transitioning.

Thank you for your story. I was often appalled by the bile directed at trans widows, how their grief and loss was seen as hateful. How they were bashed for using the word 'widow' as if they were not allowed to identify with someone who has experienced the death of a loved one.

Transition isn't death. Grief is understandable if a partner's transition leads to relationship breakdown, but in what other case is it normal to refer to a breakup as if the ex actually died?

I hope you are well, and found peace within yourself at last. This is very moving and must have taken a huge amount of courage. *hugs*.
