Family members telling me they “always felt” my decision to transition was a mistake. I ask “why didn’t you say anything back then?” They reply “we didn’t want to upset you.” Please, upset me. If you have concerns about someone you love – talk to them about it. It might help.

It's difficult for parents to get through to kids because the kids know they can run off to be affirmed outside the home. My heart breaks for parents like you.

Sorry I should have said it was a friend in my case, but she did cut her family and friends off if anyone said the slightest thing she didn’t like. So her family dealt with that by not saying anything.
