Which metric serves as the best indication of the relative success of a civilisation? (I would have added literacy rate and reproduction rate if I could specify more than four options.)
That's a tough one. While I was tempted to vote for "happiness," I settled on giving my vote to "GDP"

I tend to believe many of the metrics that try to quantify human outcomes are largely useless and based on ideological biases. That said, that I find them useless is irrelevant, what matters is other people rely on them.
