I’ll never understand why some trans activists/allies get so defensive and hostile when it comes to detransitioners and #detrans discussion.
This isn’t about you.
#Detransition exists, whether you like it or not. And we deserve a voice just as much as you do.

That would imply that you have never engaged with trans discussions on the subject, because any will quickly make clear why trans folk are wary of detransitioners and those who claim to advocate for them but are, actually, simply using them to advance their trans hostile

Narrative. Trans people have no issue with detransitioners, of any sort, per se. It is the way even the possibility of detransition is weaponised to delegitimise transition, medical care, and the identities of trans people. Most of those pushing this are not detransitioners,

“per se” lol the fuck outta here. I've never attacked trans people and I never would. I know transition helps some. But here you are with your talk of “weaponization." I’m not a weapon against you, but you’re very quick to dismiss my experience because it makes you uncomfortable

Years. If you expect us to not be suspicious and defensive you’re asking from a place of unimaginable privilege for most trans people, even a relatively privileged trans man like myself. But no, in themselves detransitioners present no threat. They may be less than 1%, but yes,

They exist, for many reasons, and are entitled to support to attain the best physical and emotional situation for them individually, just as trans folk are. Some people will always see any experience differing from their own as delegitimising or illegitimate to begin with.

They are wrong and should be called out. But another question: why is it up to trans people to validate the experiences of detransitioners? Especially when those experiences are used in attempts to invalidate trans experiences?

Who is asking for trans people to validate the experiences of detransitioners? I’m not.
