With all my heart I wish my gender clinic had not enabled me to transition. I'm much better now and don't want to take away from my progress but there's not a day that goes by were I don't think "I can't believe I did this." Transition is a massive step. Don't take it lightly.

Me pre-transition and me 4 years in. Sorry for the poor quality, I've always hated having my photo taken so there isn't much to chose from. Both were taken for a wedding, I look equally awkward in both. The power of testosterone:

I don't want more detransitioners. Nobody should want that, but it *will* happen if we don't engage with our clinics. They need to know what harm they're causing. 5/end

How many people could I have helped if I had went back to my clinic and urged better assessment and caution? I'll live with that guilt forever. It's not my or any other detransitioners job to do this, but I feel a moral obligation to do so now. 4

But more so, to stop them from making the same mistake. How many people have they allowed to transition since me? I never went back due to resentment, because I was thinking only of myself. 3

Why they didn't address my depression, my trans ID only manifesting in my 20s after a series of bad experiences, my utter lack of dysphoria as a kid and my struggle with alcohol. Just to hear what they'd say and how they'd justify themselves. 2

If it wasn't for the massive waiting list, I'd be tempted to book another appointment at my gender clinic. Just to ask why they let me transition. Why they didn't ask about my other issues. 1

Most young people attending gender clinics have already made up their minds that transition is for them. It's the job of the psychiatrist to challenge this in order to make sure transition is actually for them. When all they do is affirm, more detransitioners are the result.

to the argument: "you got exactly what you wanted, surgery and changes to your body, you were not misled" the place where I feel misled was the idea that these treatments would lead to relief from dysphoria, instead of making it exponentially worse (which it did for me)

Whenever I discuss my detransition there's always one idiot who chimes in with "just because you regret transition doesn't mean every trans person will!" I've never claimed that every trans person will regret their transition. Learn to read. Not everything's about trans people.

“Given our deficiencies in knowledge about the etiology and trajectory, and the possibility of future surgical regret of adolescent-onset GD patients, [...]many of our patients may be better served by mental health support, not irreversible surgeries.”

This could never happen, said those who called my stance against Bill C16 alarmist. I read the law and saw that it was, to the contrary, inevitable

I've noticed an increase in the number of TRA accounts that I have never interacted with on here, yet they've already blocked me. I'd noticed a few prior to detrans awareness day, but since then I appear to have been mass blocked by TRAs. I just find that interesting.

Outlawing "Conversion Therapy" sounds progressive... Putting parents in jail for saying no to putting their children on puberty blockers not so much.

When I hear about a trans man getting top surgery, I feel the same way I would about a woman getting a boob job. I'm sorry they were so uncomfortable with themselves that they resorted to surgery. I hope it makes them happy but I can't celebrate insecurity-led body modification.

The best thing we can pass down to our kids is thick skin. Don't baby them, don't over protect them - one day, they'll be in the real world. They'll resent you if you don't prepare them for it. Love and nurture your kids but don't spoil them - they'll despise you for it later.

Why was I given cross-sex hormones and surgery when I was mentally unwell? Can someone please tell me why this happened? Why it was allowed? How can a physically healthy 24 year old woman be prescribed these things when she's depressed and vulnerable? WHY was this approved?

You ever sit with a drink, listening to music, fantasizing about how amazing your life would be if you hadn't done x but had done y instead? Yeah, it's one of those nights.
