I am heartbroken. Horrified at the needless death of George Floyd, another innocent black man murdered by police in our community. Frustrated that we keep finding ourselves in this position as a city. Angry that justice still seems out of reach.

The people rioting, looting and acting violent have no care or concern about someone dying at the hands of police. They are opportunists, using this situation for their own purposes. If they really cared about him they would take action in a legal way which gives them credibility
-
But the fact they have that attitude is a symptom of a system that failed to protect them. They have no regard for law and order because it’s never been there on their behalf. It’s only been there to oppress them. Anger and disregarded for others is a symptom of all this.

Calling thieves and looters heroic? I want justice for Floyd but this isn’t the way.
