School visits are my favorite district week activities, love meeting curious kids and amazing dedicated school staff.pic.twitter.com/k6haPd5tqT

Is that in America?
-
Yes. You may be surprised to learn that the population of the United States is not composed entirely of white people

-
I’m not surprised by that at all in fact I’m not even close to the kind of person you think I am by saying that, but I do wonder why the landscape of that picture is like that for her speech
-
Schools are still de facto segregated in much of the country. Normally you wouldn’t see a politician visit a school in a neighborhood with a large Muslim population, but there definitely are places like that throughout the country

Why are there no white kids? I have a feeling they we're told not to attend...
-
Perhaps it's because of where the school is? My high school was very mixed, some schools are predominately white. It depends on where you live...
-
Uhm, red lining.

Why would parents go to a school event?? I have NEVER had parents come when we have a speaker at school in my 15 years of teaching. You obviously don’t know how schools work.
-
I’m pretty sure she had to say no parents allowed and I’m sure an email went out
-
I get that. But my point is, so what? If her focus is talking to students, why do parents need to come? It’s not a public event, it’s a school function.
-
How is an anti-American Congresswoman allowed to speak to Children anyway - parents have a right to hear what Omar said to their kids - No more property tax support to schools - let parents pay for their kids “education”
-
Omg the ignorance in your statement.

It's weird torturous and wrong to indoctrinate children into wearing a blanket around their heads while out and about. Freedom is lacking for the individual. They are brainwashed into believing they want to wear it. Looks uncomfortable. But what can you do?
-
Except that being a nun is a CHOICE. Women in Islam, too many, too often, are beaten and assaulted even jailed in some nations if they do not wear it. Men have used it as an excuse to molest women; there is Koranic support of that in 33:59.https://quran.com/33/57-67

I have traveled to and from different parts of the Middle East & North Africa over the past 9 years. I'm yet to meet anyone forced to wear a hijab. I've lived w/ those who don't wear them & those who do. Both were by choice.
Next? -
Tell that to women jailed in Iran. Tell that to women abused in the USA and Canada because they wont wear it. You may think youve never met anyone forced, but yes, you have. https://www.rt.com/news/408129-father-beaten-daughter-hijab/ … That is what is next.

Looks like they carefully filtered the high schoolers who "grilled" you
-
You think? I noticed that too.
-
Not a very diverse panel
-
My guess, if it is like the schools in Indiana where my 16 year old goes to. He would of had to bring home a paper for permission to be there. Could explain the situation.
-
That could be the case. I would def let my kids go and help them formulate real questions
-
Did you guys know that most schools in America are still segregated?
-
No, I did not! We must act now!!!!
