23 years ago, from a refugee camp in Kenya, my father and I arrived at an airport in Washington DC.
Today, we return to that same airport on the eve of my swearing in as the first Somali-American in Congress.

25 years ago I worked with Somali refugees in Kenya, and I saw how much they all suffered and struggled and hoped and dreamed. I salute both you and your father for your amazing courage. May you remind us every day of what migrants and refugees bring to our country: their hope.

Heres the thing I see .. you are either Somalian or you are American .. I don't give a rats ass if anyone gets pissed at me for saying so I fought for my country just like a lot of others so that you could have the freedom to bash the country you seem to hate soo much. GO BACK!!
