And if you are a white/white passing speaker and you're not comfortably posting what you get paid here....you need to really look at if your work is actually about deconstructing white supremacy.

For info on my fees. For years my talks used to be less than $200 - often free. As my work picked up I increased it to $2k and increased it to $3k after my book became more well known. I raised it to $6k after working multiple events where I made $3k & white men made $6-12k

Today my fee ranges from free (for solidarity work with other marginalized groups & for certain nonprofits) to over $12k for larger entities. I don't do standard DEI work/workshops. That is a specialized field & I know many who do that better. I always refer that work out.

I can ask for the fee I ask for because the status of my book allows me to command prices that many white people in this field take for granted. But many Black speakers are turned down flat when they try to negotiate a fee.

So if you're curious of what some larger named white speakers on race and racism might be making - take my fee and add some more money to it. And then ask them what they are doing to reinvest some of that money into the communities of color who developed the work they use.

It really depends. I charge nothing for rallies, demonstrations, direct action. My Patreon makes those speeches possible. For nonprofits and med schools, anywhere from 500 to 1200. For corporate trainings and workshops, 2000 on up. I'm also trans and talk about trans issues.

when I did public speaking at tech conferences (2010 - 2016ish), the only compensation I got was for travel and hotel never felt right for me to get paid to do that. but, damn, I would love to see BIPOC getting paid for it. these conferences were always whitewashed

oh, I should add... for private gigs (2 days of workshop training for whatever tech, for example) I charged $10K + travel and expenses and would stay another day to do direct protect consulting, for another $2500 I did 1 or 2 of those a year, between 2010 and 2017
